Social Media-What are QR codes and why would you use them?

QR (quick response) codes really started in the automotive industry but really took off in everyday life in Japan and the UK years ago.  Now, here in the US we are catching up.  If you are paying attention, you have been seeing them pop up in print ads, on business cards, in stores, on vehicles, almost everywhere.

These handy little guys can relay a bunch of information in just a click of your smart phone camera.  Anyone can easily download a reader which allows your phone to capture the information embedded into the pattern.

A person can put a QR code on their business card which will allow the individual receiving the card to go directly to their website.  A house painter with a QR code on their vehicle would allow passers-by to instantly get his company name, address and telephone number, which could convert them into paying customers.

A department store could put a QR code on a display so if a customer loves an item they can store the products description, picture and cost in their phone to refer back to later.

There are as many uses for QR codes as you can come up with.  You can also design them in black and white, color, patterns and designs.

Think of all the ways you can use them in your business and how easy it could be for your customers to get the vital information you want them to have in the palm of their hand.
